Coffee is a cherished tradition in Italy, and Piedmont is no exception! Here's a friendly guide to navigating the wonderful world of caffè like a local, perfect for your Piedmont cycling adventure with PiedmontBikeTour.

Your Caffè Stop: A Local Experience

Unlike cafes back home, Italian "bars" are vibrant social hubs that serve coffee drinks, pastries, snacks, and even alcoholic beverages throughout the day. You'll find them on every corner and tucked away in charming piazzas. We'll steer you towards some hidden gems loved by locals, where you can soak up the authentic atmosphere and refuel your ride.

Standing or Sitting? It's All About the Experience

Just like in France, enjoying a coffee at a table often comes with a slightly higher price tag. But if you're looking for a quick pick-me-up to fuel your ride, head to the "al banco" counter. Here, you can order and savor your espresso standing up before paying at the register. Remember to carry small change, as cash is usually preferred.

Morning Delights: Coffee and Cornetto

Mornings in Italy are for cappuccino, caffè latte, or a latte macchiato – espresso with a touch of steamed milk – perfectly paired with a flaky pastry.  A quick note: if you simply order a "latte," you might get a cup of warm milk!  So stick to the proper names to avoid any confusion.

Espresso All Day Long (Almost)

After 11:00 am, espresso (or "caffè" as the Italians call it) reigns supreme. You can order yours "ristretto" for a stronger shot with less water, or "lungo" for a slightly larger cup.

Buon Caffè e Buona Strada! (Happy Coffee and Happy Cycling!)

There's nothing quite like a steaming cup of coffee to energize your ride, especially when exploring the stunning landscapes of Piedmont. After all, coffee is a language understood by cyclists everywhere, and a chance to connect with fellow adventurers over a shared love for the sport and the open road. So, rest assured, on our PiedmontBikeTour adventures, you'll always have plenty of opportunities to enjoy a delicious caffè and embrace the Italian coffee culture!
